  • Book Now

Herceg Ethno Village is a place where time seems to have stood still, and life is simple, just like in the old days. Here, the silent stone streets, century old olive trees and beautiful haze stone walls transport you to bygone times, where hardworking men with callous hands took rocks and some land and managed to nurture grape vines, olive trees and figs.

Itinerary

- Starting at our agency, next to the Adoration Chapel, we head out of Medjugorje on a 15-minute drive.

- Upon arrival at Herceg Ethno Village, you can walk the paved stone paths that have not changed too much since centuries.  The paved paths connect you to apartments, and the hamlet of ten houses, that are an authentic recreation of life in the old days. The interiors are done up with hand made oak furniture. Apartments connected with paved stone paths, and the hamlet of ten houses, is a bright the display of life in our grandfathers time.

- Located in 15 stone masonry buildings, Herceg Ethno Village Shopping section is a reflection of life in a village. The shops make and sell tools that the forefathers of this town once used. Shops are not just a place for trading; they are also where these ancient, almost forgotten tools are given a new lease of life.

One of the most beautiful contributions of the Herceg Ethno village is the valuable ethnographic collection, which provides quite an insight into ancient life in Herzegovina. In addition, the village has an amphitheatre. The next stop is the beautiful chapel located in the centre of the village. It is symbolic of the faith maintained by this population, who never fail to say the Rosary through tough times and happier ones.

-The last part of the tour will be a visit to the Herceg Ethno Restaurant where you can sample the rich ethno-gastronomic with locally produced wine.

After lunch there will be a chance for wine shopping. Herzegovina has always been a wine-growing land, and in honour of its ancestors, the Herceg village built vineyards and grew indigenous varieties of Zilavka and Blatina grapes. This is your chance to take some of the best Herzegovina wines back home with you.
